To get back to basics in order to know what a Voip gatekeeper is, Voip means Voice over internet protocol and it is simply the transmission of voice traffic over an internet based connection on voip phone equipment. Or even more simply put, Voip are internet phones. A Voip gatekeeper is an external controller of a gateway. A gateway is a network device that helps to convert voice and fax calls in real time between an IP network and a PSTN which is simply put, the telephone system.
The Voip gatekeeper is somewhat like a management system of the Voip network.
