Software configuration manager (SCM) applications manage a computer / server system’s hardware and software organization, assisting system engineers to control and structure operating system elements. All major software producers have launched at least one generation of configuration manager programs. Here is a short list of the ones currently available:

Tivoli Configuration Manager from IBM
Oracle Developer Suite from Oracle
System Center Configuration Manager 2007 from Microsoft
CiscoWorks Interface Configuration Manager from Cisco
